Developing Mother & Child

The second and third trimesters continue to be full of emotion and growth. (For notes on the first trimester please see beginnings). For the most part we are more confident and have come to accept the reality of being pregnant. Hopefully, the pregnancy is seen and felt as a blessing, or it can be energetically transformed to be seen as a blessing if the pregnancy came unexpectedly or under difficult circumstances.

During this time the uterus makes its way over the pubic arch and the belly becomes gradually, and often quickly, more pronounced. Around four-and-a-half to five months, little movements can be felt, as if bubbles in the belly. These movements become more distinguished as the baby grows.

Many mothers begin to communicate more with the new life that is growing within. Siblings often enjoy watching the mother's belly grow and try feeling the baby within.

As our daily life continues, it is important to take the time to share our emotions and feelings with our family and friends. There is a lot of information on early stimulation with music, meditation and other forms of early communication. This helps stimulate the energetic growth of the child and the early development of a healthy relationship among all family members.

It is a sacred time and calls on our most instinctual creative potentials. The first and second chakra energies are literally moved through and rearranged, which also adds to the new flow of emotions felt throughout pregnancy. Our own inner awareness of these changes is probably the best remedy and aid to us if other areas become challenging. Journals and communication with loved ones can be very helpful. Homeopathy and herbs may also assist us. Healthy nutrition is of great importance. In general, most women intuit what and when they need something. It is a matter of listening to this inner voice and honoring it to maintain our health and well being.

Miracle of Birth

If I had my life to live over, instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle. ~ Irma Bombeck

Facing Fear

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop and look fear in the face." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

"We have a secret in our culture, and it's not that birth is painful: It's that women are strong." ~ Laura Stavoe Harm

If we hope to create
a non-violent world
where respect and kindness
replace fear and hatred,
we must begin
with how we treat each other
at the beginning of life.
For that is where
our deepest patterns are set.
From these roots
grow fear and alienation—
or love and trust
.
